These heart-shaped Buffalo chicken sliders are a quick, crowd-pleasing party appetizer featuring spicy shredded chicken, creamy cheese, and golden, fluffy buns. Perfect for gatherings, game days, or romantic occasions, they deliver comfort food with a playful twist.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups cooked chicken breast or rotisserie chicken, shredded
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup Buffalo hot sauce (such as Frank’s RedHot)
  • 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 23 green onions, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 2 cans refrigerated crescent roll dough or pizza dough (about 16 oz total)
  • 2 tbsp melted butter
  • Sesame seeds or poppy seeds (optional, for topping)
  • Ranch or blue cheese dressing (for serving)
  • Celery sticks and carrot sticks (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, mix shredded chicken, softened cream cheese, Buffalo hot sauce, shredded cheddar, green onions, garlic powder, and salt and pepper until smooth and creamy.
  3. Unroll crescent roll or pizza dough onto a lightly floured surface. Roll to about 1/4 inch thick.
  4. Use a 3-inch heart-shaped cutter to cut out as many hearts as possible. Gather scraps, re-roll, and cut more hearts (about 24 hearts for 12 sliders).
  5. Place half the hearts on the baking sheet. Spoon about 2 tablespoons of Buffalo chicken filling onto each. Top with a second heart-shaped dough piece and pinch edges to seal.
  6. Brush tops with melted butter. Sprinkle with sesame or poppy seeds if desired.
  7. Bake for 15–18 minutes until golden brown and puffed. If tops brown too quickly, loosely cover with foil.
  8. Let sliders cool on a rack for 5 minutes before serving. Serve warm with ranch or blue cheese dressing, celery, and carrot sticks.

Notes

For gluten-free sliders, use gluten-free pizza dough. To make less spicy, use mild Buffalo sauce or add extra cream cheese. Seal edges well to prevent leaks. Chill assembled sliders before baking for best shape. Sliders reheat well in the oven. For dairy-free, use plant-based cream cheese and cheese.
