Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 4 oz dark chocolate bar, chopped
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 1 tbsp coconut oil
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Pinch of sea salt
  • Fresh strawberries, hulled and dried
  • Banana slices
  • Pineapple chunks (fresh or canned, drained well)
  • Seedless grapes (red or green, washed and dried)
  • Apple slices (tossed in lemon juice)
  • Marshmallows (regular or vegan, mini or jumbo)
  • Pretzel rods or twists
  • Shortbread cookies
  • Brownie bites, cut into cubes
  • Rice Krispies treats, cut into squares
  • Macarons or meringues (optional)
  • Angel food cake or pound cake cubes
  • Dried apricots or figs
  • Chopped nuts (almonds, hazelnuts, pistachios) – optional garnish
  • Sprinkles or edible glitter – optional garnish
  • Shredded coconut – optional garnish

Instructions

  1. Prep the dippers: Wash and dry all fruit thoroughly. Hull strawberries, slice bananas and apples, and cut pineapple into bite-sized chunks. Toss apple slices with lemon juice. Cube brownies, cakes, and Rice Krispies treats. Arrange cookies, pretzels, and marshmallows in small piles or bowls.
  2. Melt the chocolate: In a small saucepan or double boiler, add semi-sweet chocolate chips and chopped dark chocolate. Pour in heavy cream and unsalted butter. Heat gently over low-medium, stirring constantly until melted and smooth.
  3. Stir in coconut oil, vanilla extract, and a pinch of sea salt. If chocolate looks grainy, add a splash more cream and whisk until smooth.
  4. Transfer melted chocolate to a fondue pot or slow cooker set to ‘warm’, or serve immediately in a bowl.
  5. Arrange the board: Place chocolate in the center of your serving board or platter. Fan out fruit, cookies, cakes, and treats around the chocolate. Fill small bowls with garnishes like nuts, sprinkles, and coconut. Add skewers or forks for dipping.
  6. Serve immediately. If chocolate thickens, reheat gently or add a splash of cream. Enjoy dipping and decorating your treats!

Notes

Use high-quality chocolate for best results. Prep dippers before melting chocolate. Dry fruit thoroughly to prevent chocolate from seizing. For vegan or gluten-free, substitute appropriate dippers and chocolate. If chocolate thickens, add a splash of cream and stir. Leftover chocolate can be stored in the fridge and reheated.
