A quick and easy homemade mint chocolate Shamrock shake with a creamy texture and refreshing mint flavor, perfect for St. Patrick’s Day or any time you crave a cool treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups (480 ml) vanilla ice cream
  • 3/4 cup (180 ml) whole milk
  • 1012 fresh mint leaves, gently bruised
  • 3 tablespoons (45 ml) chocolate syrup
  • 1/2 teaspoon mint extract (optional)
  • 34 drops green food coloring (optional)
  • Whipped cream for topping
  • Chocolate shavings or sprinkles for garnish

Instructions

  1. Gently bruise the fresh mint leaves using a muddler or the back of a spoon to release their oils.
  2. Add vanilla ice cream, whole milk, bruised mint leaves, chocolate syrup, and mint extract (if using) to a blender. Add green food coloring if desired.
  3. Pulse the blender a few times, then blend continuously for about 30 seconds until creamy and well combined. Add more milk by tablespoon if too thick.
  4. Taste and adjust flavor by adding more chocolate syrup or mint extract if desired, then blend briefly again.
  5. Pour the shake into tall glasses, top with whipped cream, and sprinkle chocolate shavings or sprinkles. Garnish with a fresh mint leaf if desired. Serve immediately.

Notes

Chill glasses before serving to keep the shake cold longer. Avoid over-blending to prevent the shake from becoming watery. Use high-quality ice cream for best texture. Bruise mint leaves gently to release oils without bitterness. Adjust milk quantity to control thickness. Green food coloring is optional for classic look.
