Ingredients

Scale
  • 810 edible waffle cones or savory pastry cones (mini size, about 4 inches)
  • Brie cheese, sliced into 1/2-inch cubes
  • Sharp cheddar, cubed
  • Herbed goat cheese, rolled into mini balls
  • Mini mozzarella balls (bocconcini, optional)
  • Fresh strawberries, halved
  • Seedless grapes, red or green, halved if large
  • Blueberries
  • Dried apricots or cranberries, chopped
  • Honey or fig jam
  • Mini breadsticks or pretzel sticks
  • Assorted crackers, broken into small pieces
  • Roasted almonds or candied pecans (optional, skip for nut allergies)
  • Edible flowers or fresh herbs (thyme or mint, optional)
  • Chocolate truffles or pink candy melts (optional, for a sweet surprise)

Instructions

  1. Gather and prep all ingredients: cube brie and cheddar into 1/2-inch pieces, roll goat cheese into 3/4-inch balls, wash and dry fruit, slice strawberries and grapes, chop dried fruit, and break crackers into small pieces. Roughly chop nuts if using.
  2. Set up your assembly station: place cones upright in a shallow bowl lined with tissue or on a baking sheet. Arrange bowls of ingredients within reach.
  3. Layer the cheeses: tuck 1–2 cubes of cheddar and brie into the bottom of each cone, add a goat cheese ball or mozzarella ball. Alternate types for color and flavor.
  4. Add fruit and crunchy bits: nestle in strawberries, grapes, blueberries, a few dried cranberries or apricot pieces, a small cracker or mini breadstick, and nuts if using.
  5. Garnish and finish: drizzle a tiny bit of honey or add a dollop of fig jam, garnish with a sprig of thyme, mint, or edible flower. For a sweet surprise, drop a chocolate truffle inside the bottom of the cone before adding cheese.
  6. Display and serve: stand cones upright in a serving bowl or cone holder. If transporting, cover loosely with plastic wrap and refrigerate for up to 2 hours. Serve chilled or at room temperature.

Notes

For best results, assemble cones just before serving to keep them crisp. Pat fruit dry and add wet toppings like honey or jam at the last minute. Use gluten-free cones or endive leaves for gluten-free guests, and plant-based cheese for dairy-free. Vary cheeses, fruits, and garnishes for seasonal or personal twists. If cones soften, toast briefly in a warm oven to crisp up before refilling.
