These Green Mint Oreo Truffles are a festive, no-bake treat with a creamy minty Oreo center and a crisp chocolate shell, perfect for St. Patrick’s Day or any occasion. They’re easy to make, crowd-pleasing, and can be adapted for gluten-free or dairy-free diets.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 36 Oreo cookies (about 14.3 oz/405 g, regular, not double-stuff, filling included), crushed into fine crumbs
  • 8 oz (225 g) cream cheese, softened
  • 1 teaspoon pure mint extract (not peppermint; adjust to taste)
  • 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon green gel food coloring (as needed)
  • 12 oz (340 g) semi-sweet chocolate chips or melting wafers
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil or vegetable shortening (optional, for smoother chocolate)
  • 4 oz (115 g) white chocolate chips or melting wafers (optional, for drizzling and decorating)
  • Extra green sprinkles, sanding sugar, or mini shamrock candies (optional, for decoration)

Instructions

  1. Place Oreo cookies in a food processor or blender and pulse until fine crumbs form. Alternatively, place cookies in a zip-top bag and crush with a rolling pin.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine Oreo crumbs with softened cream cheese, mint extract, and green gel food coloring. Mix until smooth and uniform in color.
  3. Cover the bowl and refrigerate the mixture for at least 30 minutes (or freeze for 15 minutes) to firm up.
  4. Using a small cookie scoop or your hands, roll the chilled mixture into 1-inch balls. Place on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  5. Chill the truffle balls again for at least 15 minutes (or 5-10 minutes in the freezer) to help them hold their shape.
  6. In a microwave-safe bowl, melt semi-sweet chocolate chips with coconut oil or shortening in 20-second bursts, stirring after each, until smooth. Melt white chocolate separately for drizzling, if using.
  7. Using a fork or dipping tool, dip each chilled truffle into the melted chocolate, tap off excess, and return to the baking sheet. Drizzle with melted white chocolate and decorate with sprinkles if desired.
  8. Let truffles set at room temperature for about 30 minutes or chill in the fridge until firm. Transfer to a serving plate or airtight container.

Notes

Chill the filling before rolling and again before dipping for best results. Use gel food coloring for vibrant color without altering texture. Store truffles in the fridge for up to a week or freeze for up to two months. For gluten-free or dairy-free, substitute with appropriate cookies and cream cheese. Decorate while chocolate is wet for best results.
