A festive, creamy dip made with cream cheese, pound cake, and holiday flavors, shaped like a Christmas tree and ready in just five minutes. Perfect for holiday parties and gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 16 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ¼ teaspoon almond extract
  • 10.75 oz store-bought pound cake loaf
  • 2–3 tablespoons heavy cream
  • Green food coloring (gel or liquid)
  • 10–12 pretzel sticks
  • 1 star-shaped cracker or cookie
  • 2 tablespoons red and green sprinkles
  • 1 tablespoon gold or silver dragees (optional)

Instructions

  1. Soften the cream cheese by letting it sit at room temperature for 30 minutes or microwaving on low for 10-15 seconds.
  2. Beat the softened cream cheese with a hand mixer on medium speed for about 2 minutes until smooth and fluffy.
  3. Add powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and almond extract. Mix on low speed until incorporated, then beat on medium for 1 minute until smooth.
  4. Add 2 tablespoons of heavy cream and mix until combined. Check consistency; if too thick, add the third tablespoon.
  5. Add a few drops of green food coloring and mix until the color is even. Aim for a shade darker than desired final color.
  6. Crumble the pound cake into small pieces (pea-sized or smaller). Gently fold the crumbs into the cream cheese mixture with a spatula until evenly distributed.
  7. Transfer the dip to a serving platter and spread into a Christmas tree shape (wide base tapering to a point, about 8-10 inches tall).
  8. Place pretzel sticks at the bottom of the tree in a vertical cluster to form the trunk, pressing gently into the dip.
  9. Place the star-shaped cracker or cookie at the top. Sprinkle red and green sprinkles over the dip, pressing them in slightly. Add gold or silver dragees if using.
  10. Serve immediately or refrigerate for up to 2 hours. If chilled, let sit at room temperature for 10-15 minutes before serving.

Notes

Room temperature cream cheese is essential for smooth texture. Almond extract is a secret weapon for bakery flavor—use only ¼ teaspoon. For a smoother tree shape, wet the spatula with cold water before spreading. Add sprinkles right before serving to prevent color bleeding. The dip can be made up to 24 hours ahead (without shaping/decorating) and stored in the fridge.
