This cozy honey garlic salmon in foil is a quick, foolproof dinner that delivers perfectly moist, flaky fish with a sweet and savory glaze. Ready in 20 minutes with minimal cleanup, it’s a comforting weeknight meal that tastes like a warm hug.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 salmon fillets (about 6 ounces each)
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 3 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley or green onions for garnish
  • Lemon slices for serving

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Let salmon fillets sit at room temperature for about 10 minutes.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, olive oil, fresh lemon juice, brown sugar, and red pepper flakes (if using). Reserve about 2 tablespoons of the glaze for brushing after cooking.
  3. Tear off four large sheets of heavy-duty aluminum foil, each about 12 inches long. Place one salmon fillet in the center of each sheet. Season both sides generously with salt and black pepper.
  4. Spoon the honey garlic glaze evenly over each fillet, coating the top and sides. Fold the foil up around the salmon, creating a sealed packet with a little room for steam. Crimp the edges to seal.
  5. Place the foil packets on a rimmed baking sheet. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, depending on thickness, until salmon flakes easily with a fork and internal temperature reaches 145°F (63°C).
  6. Carefully open the foil packets to release steam. Brush the reserved glaze over the top of each fillet. Optionally, broil for 1 to 2 minutes for a caramelized top.
  7. Garnish with fresh parsley or chopped green onions and serve with lemon wedges.

Notes

Pat salmon dry before seasoning for better glaze adhesion. Use a meat thermometer for perfect doneness. Salmon continues to cook after removal, so pull at 140°F if desired. Double up regular foil if heavy-duty is unavailable.
