These cozy mummy hot dogs with cheesy ribbons are a fun and easy Halloween treat made with simple ingredients like hot dogs, pizza dough, and mozzarella cheese. Perfect for parties or a quick dinner, they’re a crowd-pleaser that kids and adults love.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 standard-size hot dogs
  • 1 can (13.8 oz) refrigerated pizza dough
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese (low-moisture part-skim)
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon everything bagel seasoning (optional)
  • Ketchup or mustard for serving (for eyes)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. On a lightly floured surface, roll out pizza dough into a 12×8-inch rectangle.
  3. Cut dough lengthwise into 8 strips, each about 1 inch wide.
  4. Separate shredded mozzarella into small clumps (about 2 tablespoons per hot dog).
  5. Take one dough strip, place a hot dog at one end, sprinkle a thin line of cheese along the hot dog, then wrap the dough strip around it, overlapping slightly and tucking in small pinches of cheese between layers. Repeat with remaining hot dogs.
  6. Arrange wrapped mummy dogs on prepared baking sheet, leaving about 2 inches between each.
  7. In a small bowl, melt butter (about 20 seconds in microwave). Stir in garlic powder if using. Brush butter mixture over each mummy dog.
  8. Sprinkle everything bagel seasoning lightly over the top if desired.
  9. Bake for 15-18 minutes until dough is golden brown and cheese is bubbly.
  10. Let cool on baking sheet for 2-3 minutes. Use tongs to transfer to a serving platter.
  11. Using a toothpick or knife tip, make two small dots of ketchup or mustard on the exposed hot dog at one end for eyes.

Notes

For best results, use low-moisture part-skim mozzarella to avoid sogginess. Keep cheese cold while wrapping. Don’t overcrowd the baking sheet. For air fryer: cook at 350°F (175°C) for 8-10 minutes, flipping halfway. Unbaked mummy dogs can be frozen individually and baked later, adding 5-7 minutes to baking time.
