Savory Chex Mix - featured image

A bold, herby, and slightly spicy savory Chex mix made with ranch seasoning and Old Bay. Perfect for game day, cozy nights, or late-night cravings, this quick and easy snack comes together in under 30 minutes and is packed with flavor.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 9 cups Rice Chex cereal (or Corn Chex, or a mix of both)
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 tablespoons ranch seasoning mix
  • 1 tablespoon Old Bay seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper, freshly ground
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt (only if needed)
  • 1 cup pretzel sticks
  • 1 cup roasted peanuts (or almonds, or mixed nuts)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 250°F (120°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the Chex cereal, pretzel sticks, and roasted peanuts. Toss gently to distribute.
  3. In a separate small bowl, whisk together the melted butter, ranch seasoning, Old Bay, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne (if using), black pepper, and salt until fully combined.
  4. Pour the butter mixture over the cereal mixture. Use a spatula to gently fold until every piece is lightly coated.
  5. Spread the mixture in an even layer on a large rimmed baking sheet (half-sheet pan, 18×13 inches).
  6. Bake for 45 minutes, stirring every 15 minutes, until golden and fragrant.
  7. Remove from the oven and let cool completely on the baking sheet (about 20-30 minutes) to become crunchy.
  8. Once cooled, transfer to a serving bowl or store in an airtight container.

Notes

Let the mix cool completely before storing to maintain crunch. For extra crunch, reheat in a 250°F oven for 5-10 minutes if it softens. The mix tastes even better the next day as flavors meld.
