A quick and easy fall cocktail combining crisp apple cider, warm spices, and smooth tequila for a cozy, balanced drink ready in just 5 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 oz (60 ml) tequila (blanco or reposado)
  • 3 oz (90 ml) fresh unfiltered apple cider
  • 1 oz (30 ml) fresh lime juice
  • 1 oz (30 ml) orange liqueur (triple sec or Cointreau)
  • ½ oz (15 ml) maple syrup
  • ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Tiny pinch ground cloves
  • For the spiced salt rim: 1 tablespoon coarse sea salt, 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon, 1 teaspoon granulated sugar
  • For garnish: thin apple slices, cinnamon sticks, wide strip of orange peel

Instructions

  1. Prepare the spiced salt rim: On a small plate, combine 1 tablespoon coarse sea salt, 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon, and 1 teaspoon granulated sugar. Mix well.
  2. Rim the glass: Run a lime wedge around the rim of a lowball glass, then dip into the spiced salt mixture to coat evenly. Tap off excess.
  3. Fill a cocktail shaker halfway with ice cubes.
  4. Add 2 oz tequila, 3 oz apple cider, 1 oz fresh lime juice, 1 oz orange liqueur, ½ oz maple syrup, ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon, and a tiny pinch of ground cloves to the shaker.
  5. Secure the lid and shake vigorously for 15-20 seconds until the shaker feels frosty.
  6. Fill the prepared glass with fresh ice cubes.
  7. Strain the cocktail into the glass (use a fine mesh strainer if desired to remove spice sediment).
  8. Garnish with a thin apple slice, a cinnamon stick, and a wide strip of orange peel. Gently twist the orange peel over the drink to release oils before dropping it in.

Notes

Use fresh lime juice for best flavor. Adjust maple syrup to taste. For a non-alcoholic version, omit tequila and orange liqueur and replace with extra apple cider and sparkling water. The spiced salt rim can be made in advance and stored in an airtight container.
