A fun and spooky Halloween dessert featuring layers of smooth chocolate pudding, crushed Oreo cookie ‘dirt’, and gummy worms for a creepy creamy treat that’s quick and easy to make.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 packets (3.9 oz / 110 g each) instant chocolate pudding mix (preferably Jell-O)
  • 3 ½ cups (830 ml) cold milk (whole or skim)
  • 20 Oreo cookies, crushed (about 1 ½ cups / 150 g)
  • 1 package (about 4 oz / 115 g) gummy worms (red and green)
  • 1 cup (240 ml) whipped cream, optional
  • Pinch of cinnamon or espresso powder, optional

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the 2 packets of instant chocolate pudding mix with 3 ½ cups (830 ml) cold milk. Whisk vigorously for about 2 minutes until the mixture thickens and is smooth.
  2. If desired, fold in 1 cup (240 ml) of whipped cream gently for extra creaminess. Set aside for 5 minutes to fully set.
  3. While the pudding sets, crush 20 Oreo cookies into fine crumbs using a food processor or place cookies in a plastic bag and crush with a rolling pin. The crumbs should resemble moist soil but not powdery.
  4. Spoon a layer of pudding into the bottom of each clear cup, about ¼ cup (60 ml). Next, add a layer of Oreo crumbs, about 2 tablespoons (15 g). Repeat once more to fill the cup, ending with a dirt layer on top.
  5. Strategically place 2–3 gummy worms on top of each cup, letting some peek out from the ‘dirt’ for a creepy effect. Optionally tuck a few inside the layers for a surprise bite.
  6. Refrigerate the assembled cups for at least 30 minutes to let everything set and the flavors meld. Cover with plastic wrap if storing for later.
  7. Just before serving, add a dollop of whipped cream if desired, and sprinkle crushed cookies for extra texture.

Notes

Avoid over-crushing the cookies to keep some texture contrast. Chill the cups well before serving to prevent gummy worms from melting. Use a small scoop or measuring cup for consistent layering. For dairy-free or vegan versions, substitute with coconut milk pudding mix and dairy-free whipped cream, and use gluten-free cookies if needed.
