A fun and easy Halloween snack featuring hot dogs wrapped in crispy crescent dough strips to look like mummies, served with crunchy pretzel bones for a salty contrast.

Ingredients

Scale
  • Hot dogs (beef, pork, chicken, or plant-based)
  • Refrigerated crescent dough (e.g., Pillsbury crescent dough)
  • Pretzel sticks (thin rods or sticks)
  • Mustard or ketchup (for mummy eyes)
  • 1 egg (optional, for egg wash)
  • 1 tablespoon water (optional, for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
  2. Unroll the refrigerated crescent dough and separate into rectangles by pressing perforations together gently. Slice each rectangle into thin strips about 1/4 inch (0.6 cm) wide.
  3. Wrap each hot dog loosely with the dough strips, leaving small gaps between strips to create the mummy look. Leave the ends of the hot dog exposed.
  4. Arrange 2-3 pretzel sticks beside each wrapped hot dog on the baking sheet to resemble bones.
  5. Optional: Lightly brush the dough strips with the beaten egg wash for a golden finish.
  6. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until the dough is golden brown and crispy. Watch closely after 12 minutes to avoid burning.
  7. Remove from oven and let cool for 2 minutes. Use a toothpick to dot small eyes on each mummy with mustard or ketchup.
  8. Serve warm with your favorite dips or a side salad.

Notes

Do not wrap dough strips too tightly to keep them crispy. Egg wash is optional but helps achieve a golden finish. Chill dough for 10 minutes if sticky before slicing. Store wrapped hot dogs in fridge up to 24 hours before baking. Reheat leftovers in oven at 350°F for 5-7 minutes to regain crispness. Avoid microwaving to prevent soggy dough.
