Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 large head of broccoli, cut into small florets (about 2 cups)
  • 1 large head of cauliflower, cut into small florets (about 2 cups)
  • 1 English cucumber, sliced into rounds (about 1/4-inch thick)
  • 1 pint cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 1 cup baby carrots
  • 1/2 cup black olives, sliced into strips
  • 1/4 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 1 tablespoon milk (optional, to thin cream cheese for piping)
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 packet (1 oz) ranch seasoning mix
  • 1 tablespoon fresh dill, chopped (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Make the Ranch Dip: In a medium bowl, combine 1 cup sour cream, 1/2 cup mayonnaise, 1 packet ranch seasoning mix, 1 tablespoon fresh dill (if using), and 1 teaspoon garlic powder. Stir until smooth. Taste and add salt and pepper as needed. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to let the flavors meld.
  2. Prep the Veggies: Wash and dry all vegetables thoroughly. Cut broccoli and cauliflower into small florets (about 1-inch pieces). Slice the cucumber into rounds, halve the cherry tomatoes, and set aside the baby carrots. Pat everything dry with a paper towel.
  3. Create the Mummy Bandages: Drain the black olives and slice them into thin strips, about 1/4-inch wide. You’ll need about 2-3 strips per ‘mummy’ veggie. Set aside on a paper towel to absorb excess moisture.
  4. Make the Cream Cheese Eyes: In a small bowl, soften 1/4 cup cream cheese to room temperature. If it’s too stiff, add 1 tablespoon milk and stir until smooth. Transfer to a small piping bag or zip-top bag. Snip a tiny corner—no bigger than 1/8 inch—so you can pipe small dots.
  5. Assemble the Mummy Veggies: Take a baby carrot or cucumber slice. Pipe two small dots of cream cheese for eyes. Place two olive strips crosswise over the carrot to look like bandages, leaving the eyes visible. Press gently so they stick. Repeat with remaining veggies. For broccoli and cauliflower, pipe eyes directly on the floret and wrap one or two olive strips around the stem.
  6. Arrange the Tray: Place the ranch dip in a small bowl in the center of your platter. Arrange the mummy veggies around the bowl, grouping similar veggies together for visual appeal. Scatter cherry tomatoes and extra veggie pieces to fill gaps.
  7. Chill Before Serving: Refrigerate the assembled tray for 15-20 minutes to set the cream cheese eyes. This step is crucial—it keeps the bandages from sliding off during transport or serving.

Notes

Make the dip a day ahead for better flavor. Keep veggies dry to prevent cream cheese eyes from sliding. Assemble tray no more than 2 hours before serving.
