This Easy 5-Minute Pumpkin Chai Latte Concentrate is a shortcut to cozy fall mornings. It’s the smell of fall without the fuss, the taste of your favorite coffee shop order without the drive-through line.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/4 cup pumpkin puree (100% pure, not pie filling)
  • 2 chai tea bags (e.g., Tazo Chai or Oregon Chai)
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan, whisk together 1 cup of water and 1/4 cup of pumpkin puree until fully dissolved and no lumps remain.
  2. Add 2 chai tea bags, 2 tablespoons of maple syrup, 1 teaspoon of pumpkin pie spice, 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. Stir to combine.
  3. Place the saucepan over medium heat and bring to a gentle simmer (small bubbles around the edges). Do not let it boil. Simmer for 3-4 minutes.
  4. Turn off the heat. Use a spoon to press the tea bags against the side of the pot to extract all the flavor, then remove and discard the tea bags.
  5. For an ultra-smooth concentrate, pour the mixture through a fine-mesh strainer into a mason jar or airtight bottle.
  6. Let the concentrate cool completely at room temperature before sealing. Store in the refrigerator for up to one week.
  7. To make a latte: Fill a mug about 1/3 full with the concentrate. Top with hot milk (dairy, oat, or almond) and stir. For an iced version, use cold milk and pour over ice.

Notes

For a creamier concentrate, swap half the water for milk before simmering. For a caffeine-free version, use rooibos chai tea bags. For an extra kick, add a thin slice of fresh ginger or a star anise pod while simmering. The concentrate actually gets better after a day or two in the fridge as flavors meld.
