This easy caramel apple cider sangria is a 5-minute fall cocktail that balances crisp apple cider, dry white wine, and warm caramel for a crowd-pleasing drink that’s perfect for any gathering.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 bottle (750 ml) Pinot Grigio or Sauvignon Blanc
  • 2 cups apple cider
  • 1/2 cup caramel sauce
  • 1/4 cup apple brandy or Calvados (optional but recommended)
  • 1 large apple, thinly sliced (Honeycrisp or Fuji recommended)
  • 1 pear, thinly sliced (Bosc or Anjou recommended)
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • Ice cubes (preferably apple cider ice cubes)

Instructions

  1. Start with the caramel base. Pour the 1/2 cup of caramel sauce into your pitcher. Add about 1/2 cup of the apple cider and whisk or stir until the caramel is fully dissolved.
  2. Add the rest of the cider and brandy. Pour in the remaining 1 1/2 cups of apple cider and the 1/4 cup of apple brandy (if using). Stir everything together until well combined.
  3. Pour in the wine. Slowly add the entire bottle of white wine. Give it a gentle stir to incorporate everything evenly.
  4. Add the fruit and cinnamon. Drop in the sliced apple, sliced pear, and the cinnamon stick. Stir gently to distribute the fruit throughout the pitcher.
  5. Chill (if you can wait). For best results, let the sangria sit in the fridge for at least 30 minutes before serving to allow the flavors to meld.
  6. Serve over ice. Fill glasses with ice (preferably apple cider ice cubes). Pour the sangria over the ice, making sure to get some fruit slices into each glass.

Notes

For best results, dissolve the caramel in a small amount of apple cider first to prevent it from sinking to the bottom. Use a dry, unoaked white wine like Pinot Grigio or Sauvignon Blanc. Make apple cider ice cubes to avoid watering down the drink. If making ahead, add fresh fruit just before serving to maintain texture.
