A spooky, crowd-pleasing Halloween punch with a dramatic dry ice fog effect. This balanced blend of cranberry, orange, and pineapple juices with ginger ale creates a deliciously refreshing drink that’s perfect for parties.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups cranberry juice (unsweetened or regular)
  • 2 cups orange juice (freshly squeezed or store-bought)
  • 2 cups pineapple juice
  • 1/4 cup lemon juice (freshly squeezed)
  • 4 cups ginger ale (chilled, such as Canada Dry or Schweppes)
  • 1/4 cup simple syrup (optional, for extra sweetness)
  • 23 pounds dry ice
  • 2 cups warm water (for activating fog)
  • Orange slices (for garnish)
  • Fresh cranberries (for garnish)
  • Plastic spider rings or gummy worms (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. In a large pitcher or container, combine cranberry juice, orange juice, pineapple juice, and lemon juice. If using simple syrup, add it now and stir until dissolved. Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight, to allow flavors to meld.
  2. Place ginger ale in the refrigerator to chill for at least 4 hours before serving.
  3. Up to 2 hours before serving, prepare garnishes: slice oranges into thin rounds (cut a slit in each slice to hook onto the punch bowl rim if desired), rinse fresh cranberries and pat dry. Refrigerate until ready.
  4. About 10 minutes before serving, remove juice mixture from refrigerator and pour into a large punch bowl (at least 2-gallon capacity). Add chilled ginger ale and stir gently to combine.
  5. Float orange slices on top of the punch and scatter fresh cranberries. Add plastic spiders or gummy worms if using.
  6. Right before serving, put on oven mitts or thick gloves. Using tongs, place dry ice pieces into a small, heat-safe bowl or container. Place this container in the center of the punch bowl, ensuring it sits above the liquid level. Pour warm water over the dry ice to activate the fog effect.
  7. Ladle punch into cups, being careful not to scoop up the dry ice container. The fog will continue for 20-30 minutes; add more warm water as needed to reactivate.

Notes

Never put dry ice directly into the punch liquid; always use a separate container. Never touch dry ice with bare hands. Store dry ice in a well-ventilated area and never in an airtight container. For best fog effect, add dry ice right when guests arrive. The punch base (without ginger ale and dry ice) can be refrigerated for up to 3 days.
