A quick and refreshing iced espresso drink made by shaking espresso with brown sugar and ice, then topped with creamy oatmilk. Perfect for a dairy-free, vegan-friendly pick-me-up with a silky frothy texture.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 shots (60 ml) freshly brewed espresso (or strong brewed coffee/cold brew concentrate)
  • 2 teaspoons packed brown sugar (light or dark)
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) oatmilk (preferably barista-style)
  • 1 cup (240 ml) ice cubes
  • Optional: 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon or vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Brew 2 shots (about 60 ml) of espresso using your preferred method.
  2. While the espresso is still hot, stir in 2 teaspoons of brown sugar until fully dissolved.
  3. Add the sweetened espresso to a cocktail shaker or mason jar, then add about 1 cup (240 ml) of ice cubes.
  4. Secure the lid tightly and shake vigorously for 15-20 seconds until frothy and chilled.
  5. Strain or pour the shaken espresso into a glass over fresh ice.
  6. Gently pour 1/2 cup (120 ml) of oatmilk over the top and stir lightly or leave layered.
  7. Optional: Stir cinnamon or vanilla extract into the oatmilk before pouring for added flavor.

Notes

Use hot espresso to dissolve the brown sugar fully to avoid graininess. Shake vigorously to create a frothy texture. Use fresh solid ice cubes for best flavor and chill. Barista-style oatmilk froths better and blends smoothly without curdling. Prepare sweetened espresso in advance and refrigerate up to 24 hours, but shake with ice just before serving. Leftover mixed drinks with oatmilk do not store well due to separation.
