Fun and easy mummy dogs made with crescent roll dough and hot dogs, perfect for Halloween or any weeknight dinner. Ready in under 20 minutes with simple ingredients.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 standard-sized hot dogs
  • 1 can (8-count) crescent roll dough
  • Mustard or ketchup (for the eyes)
  • 1–2 tablespoons melted butter (optional)
  • Everything bagel seasoning or sesame seeds (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or foil.
  2. Unroll the crescent roll dough onto a clean cutting board. If using perforated dough, press the seams together gently to create one solid sheet.
  3. Using a sharp knife or pizza cutter, cut the dough lengthwise into thin strips about ½ inch wide (about 8-10 strips per sheet).
  4. Take one hot dog and start wrapping a strip of dough around it, starting at one end and working up. Leave a small gap at the top (about ½ inch) for the face. Overlap the dough slightly as you wrap. Press the end to seal. Repeat with all 8 hot dogs.
  5. Place the wrapped hot dogs on the prepared baking sheet, leaving about an inch of space between each.
  6. If using, melt butter and brush a thin layer over each wrapped hot dog.
  7. Bake for 12-15 minutes until the dough is golden brown and the hot dogs are heated through. Check at 10 minutes and adjust as needed.
  8. Let cool for about 2 minutes on the baking sheet. Using a toothpick or knife tip, dab two small dots of mustard or ketchup on the exposed hot dog at the top to create eyes.
  9. Serve immediately while warm.

Notes

Keep dough strips thin (about ½ inch) to avoid doughy centers. Don’t overbake; check at 10 minutes. For best results, brush with melted butter for golden color. Can prep ahead by wrapping and refrigerating for a few hours before baking. For cheesy version, slit hot dogs and stuff with cheese before wrapping.
