A quick and easy dessert dip made with cream cheese, crushed Christmas tree cakes, and whipped topping. Perfect for holiday parties and cookie swaps, this creamy, festive dip comes together in under 15 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar, sifted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 6 Christmas tree cakes, crushed or chopped
  • 1/2 cup whipped topping, thawed
  • Green food coloring (optional)
  • Holiday sprinkles (for topping)
  • Crushed graham crackers or vanilla wafers (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Soften the cream cheese and butter by letting them sit at room temperature for at least 30 minutes.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and butter with an electric mixer on medium speed until smooth and creamy, about 2 minutes. Scrape down the sides halfway through.
  3. Gradually add the sifted powdered sugar with the mixer on low speed to avoid a sugar cloud.
  4. Add the vanilla extract and beat on medium speed until well combined and fluffy.
  5. Gently fold in the thawed whipped topping with a rubber spatula until just combined. Do not overmix.
  6. If desired, add a few drops of green food coloring and stir until evenly distributed.
  7. Place the Christmas tree cakes in a plastic bag and crush with a rolling pin, or pulse in a food processor, until you have a mix of fine crumbs and small chunks. Reserve 1/4 cup for topping.
  8. Gently fold the crushed cakes into the dip until just combined, leaving visible pockets of cake.
  9. Transfer the dip to a serving bowl and spread evenly. Top with reserved crushed cakes and holiday sprinkles.
  10. Chill in the refrigerator for 30 minutes (optional but recommended) before serving. Serve with graham crackers, vanilla wafers, or extra Christmas tree cakes.

Notes

Make sure cream cheese is fully softened to avoid lumps. For a lighter option, use reduced-fat cream cheese and a sugar substitute. The dip can be made up to 24 hours in advance; add toppings just before serving. Do not freeze.
