A festive and easy-to-assemble patriotic charcuterie board featuring star-shaped cheese cutouts, a mix of meats, fresh fruits, and crunchy crackers perfect for summer entertaining.

Ingredients

  • Sharp white cheddar cheese block, chilled
  • Colby Jack cheese block, chilled
  • Blue cheese wedge or blue cheese crumbles
  • Thinly sliced prosciutto
  • Spicy soppressata or pepperoni slices
  • Smoked turkey or ham slices
  • Red grapes or cherry tomatoes
  • Blueberries (fresh or frozen)
  • Seedless cucumber slices or snap peas
  • Assorted crackers and baguette slices (e.g., Carr’s Table Water Crackers)
  • Roasted almonds or salted pecans
  • Small bowls of honey or fig jam

Instructions

  1. Chill your cheese blocks in the fridge until very firm, at least 30 minutes.
  2. Using star-shaped cookie cutters, press firmly into the cheese blocks, wiggle slightly to release, then gently pop out each star. Use a small knife to tidy up any crumbled edges. Arrange stars on a plate and keep cold until assembly.
  3. Thinly slice prosciutto, soppressata, and turkey into bite-sized pieces or small rolls. Roll or fold slices loosely for a casual look.
  4. Rinse grapes, blueberries, and cucumbers. Slice cucumbers thinly and halve cherry tomatoes if using. Pat dry to avoid excess moisture.
  5. Arrange the board by placing cheese stars and meat slices in groups across the board. Fill gaps with crackers, fruit clusters, and nuts. Use small bowls for jams or honey, tucking them into corners to avoid spills. Scatter red, white, and blue tones evenly for balance and color contrast.
  6. Add garnishes like fresh herbs or edible flowers if desired. Ensure everything is within easy reach for guests.

Notes

Keep cheese blocks chilled until cutting to maintain clean star shapes. Use sharp knives to avoid crumbling. Assemble board just before serving to keep crackers crisp and cheese fresh. Cheese stars and sliced meats can be prepped a few hours ahead and refrigerated. For gluten-free, use gluten-free crackers or extra fresh veggies. For dairy-free, swap cheeses with vegan or nut-based alternatives.
