- 1 can (46 ounces) pineapple juice
- 1 can (12 ounces) frozen limeade concentrate, thawed
- 1 liter lemon-lime soda (such as Sprite or 7Up)
- 1 bottle (64 ounces) green sports drink (lemon-lime flavor)
- 1 cup water
- 2–3 pounds food-grade dry ice
- 1 cup vodka or coconut rum (optional, for adult version)
- 1 cup gin (optional, for adult version)
Instructions
- Chill all ingredients (pineapple juice, limeade concentrate, sports drink, and lemon-lime soda) in the refrigerator for at least 8 hours or overnight.
- In a large punch bowl, combine the chilled pineapple juice, thawed limeade concentrate, green sports drink, and water. Stir gently until the limeade concentrate is fully incorporated.
- Just before serving, slowly pour the chilled lemon-lime soda down the side of the bowl to preserve carbonation. Stir gently once or twice.
- Put on thick oven mitts or use tongs. Remove dry ice from the cooler and place on a clean, dry surface. Wrap in a small towel and gently tap with a hammer or heavy knife to break into golf ball-sized chunks.
- Using tongs, carefully drop 2-3 chunks of dry ice into the punch bowl. Wait about 5 minutes to observe the fog effect.
- Monitor the fog and add 1-2 fresh chunks every 20 minutes as the fog thins to maintain the effect throughout the party.
- Ladle the punch into cups, being careful not to scoop up any dry ice chunks. Warn guests not to ingest the dry ice.
Notes
Handle dry ice with care—never touch with bare hands. Keep dry ice away from children. The punch base can be made up to 24 hours in advance; add soda and dry ice just before serving. For a lower-sugar version, use diet soda and sugar-free limeade concentrate.
