A cozy and easy pumpkin dump cake featuring a creamy cream cheese layer and buttery toffee bits, perfect for comforting fall evenings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 can (15 oz / 425 g) pumpkin puree (not pumpkin pie filling)
  • 1 can (14 oz / 396 g) sweetened condensed milk
  • 2 large eggs, room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • Pinch of ground cloves
  • 1 box (15.25 oz / 432 g) yellow or spice cake mix
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick / 113 g) unsalted butter, melted and slightly cooled
  • 8 oz (225 g) cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup (120 g) powdered sugar
  • 3/4 cup (about 100 g) toffee bits

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with butter or non-stick spray.
  2. In a large bowl, combine pumpkin puree, sweetened condensed milk, eggs, vanilla extract, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves. Whisk until smooth and uniform.
  3. Spread the pumpkin mixture evenly into the prepared baking dish.
  4. In a separate bowl, beat softened cream cheese with powdered sugar until smooth and creamy.
  5. Drop spoonfuls of the cream cheese mixture evenly over the pumpkin layer.
  6. Sprinkle the dry cake mix evenly over the top without stirring.
  7. Pour melted butter evenly over the cake mix layer.
  8. Sprinkle toffee bits evenly on top.
  9. Bake for 50-60 minutes until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean or with moist crumbs.
  10. Cool the cake for at least 20 minutes before serving.

Notes

Do not stir after sprinkling the cake mix to allow it to absorb moisture and rise properly. Soften cream cheese well before mixing. Pour melted butter slowly and evenly over the cake mix layer to form a golden crust. Watch edges after 45 minutes and tent with foil if browning too fast. Let cake cool for at least 20 minutes before serving for best texture.
