A quick and easy frozen cocktail blending frozen blueberries, vodka, and citrus with a salted rim for a refreshing summer drink.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (150g) frozen blueberries
  • 3 ounces (90 ml) vodka
  • 1 ounce (30 ml) fresh lime juice
  • 1 ounce (30 ml) triple sec or orange liqueur
  • 1/2 ounce (15 ml) simple syrup
  • 1 to 1 1/2 cups (240 to 360 ml) ice cubes
  • Coarse sea salt for rimming glasses
  • Lime wedges for moistening rim and garnish

Instructions

  1. Pour a thin layer of coarse sea salt onto a small plate. Rub a fresh lime wedge around the rim of each glass until moist, then dip each rim into the salt to coat evenly. Set glasses aside.
  2. Squeeze fresh limes to get about 1 ounce (30 ml) of juice. Strain if desired.
  3. Add frozen blueberries, vodka, lime juice, triple sec, simple syrup, and ice cubes into a blender.
  4. Start blending on low speed to break up the ice and berries, then increase to high. Blend until smooth and slushy, about 30 to 45 seconds. Add a splash of water or more lime juice if too thick.
  5. Taste and adjust sweetness or tartness by adding more simple syrup or blueberries if needed. Blend briefly again if adjustments are made.
  6. Pour the frozen blueberry vodka margarita into prepared glasses. Garnish with a lime wedge or fresh blueberries on a skewer. Serve immediately.

Notes

If blender struggles with frozen berries, let them thaw for 5 minutes before blending. Keep glassware chilled for colder drinks. Prepare margarita mix (without ice) up to 24 hours ahead and blend with ice before serving. Avoid over-blending to maintain slushy texture.
