These savory mummy jalapeño popper hot dogs wrap spicy, cheesy jalapeño popper flavors around hot dogs, cloaked in flaky crescent dough for a fun and fiery treat perfect for parties or casual dinners.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 hot dogs (regular or all-beef)
  • 12 fresh jalapeños, finely diced (seeds removed for less heat)
  • 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • ½ cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese (about 56g)
  • ¼ cup cooked bacon bits (about 30g)
  • 1 (8-ounce) can crescent roll dough
  • Pinch of garlic powder
  • Pinch of onion powder (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 beaten egg (optional, for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine softened cream cheese, shredded cheddar cheese, bacon bits, garlic powder, onion powder (if using), salt, and pepper. Mix well.
  3. Fold the diced jalapeños into the cheese mixture evenly.
  4. Unroll the crescent dough and separate into triangles. Cut each triangle into thin strips about ¼ inch wide.
  5. Spread about 1 tablespoon of the jalapeño popper cheese mixture evenly over each hot dog.
  6. Wrap each hot dog with crescent dough strips, leaving small gaps to resemble mummy wrappings. Do not wrap too tightly.
  7. Optionally, brush the dough strips with beaten egg for a golden, shiny finish.
  8. Place the wrapped hot dogs on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 12-15 minutes until dough is golden brown and puffed.
  9. Let the mummies cool for 2-3 minutes before serving.

Notes

Do not overfill the hot dogs to prevent filling from spilling. Keep dough strips about ¼ inch wide for best baking results. Chill wrapped hot dogs for 10 minutes before baking to help set the cheese and prevent unraveling. Use pre-cooked bacon bits to avoid excess grease. Egg wash improves color and shine but is optional. Let hot dogs rest after baking to avoid molten cheese burns. For gluten-free or dairy-free versions, use appropriate substitutes for crescent dough and cheeses.
