A vibrant green punch with a dramatic dry ice fog effect that looks like a haunted swamp. This easy Halloween drink uses simple ingredients and is perfect for parties, with a balanced lime and pineapple flavor that kids and adults love.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 oz limeade concentrate, thawed
  • 2 cups pineapple juice
  • 4 cups ginger ale, chilled
  • 810 drops neon green food coloring
  • 23 pounds dry ice
  • Optional: gummy worms, plastic spiders, or green apple slices for garnish

Instructions

  1. Thaw the limeade concentrate (about 30 minutes before starting).
  2. In a large pitcher or measuring cup, combine the thawed limeade concentrate, 2 cups of pineapple juice, and 4 cups of chilled ginger ale. Stir gently until combined.
  3. Add 8-10 drops of neon green food coloring. Stir well and check the color. Add more drops if desired for a brighter shade.
  4. Chill the punch base in the refrigerator for 30 minutes if time allows (optional).
  5. Put on dry ice gloves or heavy oven mitts. Wrap the block of dry ice in a clean kitchen towel and place on a hard surface. Use a small hammer or mallet to break it into 1-2 inch pieces.
  6. Pour the punch base into a large punch bowl (at least 3 quarts). Place the bowl on a stable surface with a towel or tray underneath to catch condensation.
  7. Using tongs, carefully drop 2-3 pieces of dry ice into the punch bowl. Do not add more than 4 pieces at once. Stir gently to distribute the fog.
  8. Serve immediately within 15 minutes. Use a ladle to serve the punch into cups, ensuring no pieces of dry ice end up in the cups. Add more dry ice pieces every 20-30 minutes to maintain the fog effect.

Notes

Handle dry ice with gloves—it can cause frostbite. Do not add dry ice more than 5 minutes before guests arrive. Keep dry ice in a cooler with the lid slightly cracked until use. Do not let dry ice touch the sides of the bowl to avoid cracking. For kids, explain not to touch the dry ice or put hands in the punch bowl. The fog effect lasts 10-15 minutes per batch; add more dry ice every 20-30 minutes. If the punch becomes flat, stir in fresh chilled ginger ale.
