This creamy, no-churn salted caramel ice cream comes together in under 15 minutes of active prep with simple ingredients. It’s the perfect family-friendly dessert for any occasion, with a rich caramel swirl and a touch of sea salt in every bite.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups (480 ml) heavy cream
  • 1 can (14 oz / 397 g) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) caramel sauce
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon flaky sea salt
  • Optional: 1/4 cup (60 ml) caramel sauce for swirling

Instructions

  1. Chill your mixing bowl and beaters in the freezer for 10-15 minutes.
  2. Pour the cold heavy cream into the chilled bowl. Using an electric hand mixer on medium-high speed, whip the cream until stiff peaks form, about 3-4 minutes.
  3. Pour the sweetened condensed milk over the whipped cream. Add the vanilla extract and flaky sea salt. Gently fold everything together with a rubber spatula until thick, smooth, and slightly glossy.
  4. Drizzle 1/2 cup of caramel sauce over the mixture. Gently swirl it through with a knife or skewer, using just 3-4 strokes to create ribbons.
  5. Scrape the mixture into a 9×5-inch loaf pan and spread evenly. If using the extra caramel sauce, drizzle on top and give one more gentle swirl.
  6. Press plastic wrap directly onto the surface of the ice cream to prevent ice crystals. Cover the pan with another layer of plastic wrap or a lid.
  7. Freeze for at least 6 hours, but overnight is best for the creamiest texture.

Notes

For best results, ensure heavy cream is very cold and equipment is chilled. Do not overwhip cream. If using table salt instead of flaky sea salt, reduce to 1/4 teaspoon. Let ice cream sit at room temperature for 5-10 minutes before scooping if too hard.
